Today we had a group of sixteen students from Upwey High School's Kitchen Garden program come to plant indigenous plants in the riparian area of Glenfern Valley Bushlands. The fifty plants were put quickly in the ground which gave us time to walk back a different way and show them around. Thank you so much for your help.

On sunny Tuesday the wonderful outdoor education students from Fairhills High came for a bushwalk and a bit of mulch spreading in the quarry. They were amazing and did so much. Thank you. Recently we welcomed 90 Trinity College students from the University of Melbourne to our Bushland Reserve. For many of them it was their first time in the 'bush'. Some students were lucky enough to see two kangaroos and a swamp wallaby and we all observed many native birds. It was a wonderful experience for them and for the FGVB volunteer guides. Thank you to all involved for making it such a great morning. Photos by Linda Fullagar
On Saturday we welcomed just over one-hundred students from Melbourne Uni's Trinity College to Glenfern. With the assistance of their teachers and past student visitors, Glenfern members gave the students a guided tour of the reserve, to assist them with their study of Australia's natural environment. We also removed some Briza grass along the way. Thanks to our volunteers for sharing their time and knowledge, and for the students for being great guests, as always. Photos by Daniel Jackson
The students from Fairhills High helped us spread mulch around the plantings at the New Road end of the Reserve. It looks fantastic now. We also enjoyed taking them on an educational walk in the Bushlands. Thanks so much.
A busy day at Glenfern. We had 140 international students international and 8 teachers from Trinity College, Melbourne University visit Glenfern as part of a educational field trip to study the Australian environment. Hundreds of trees were also planted by the students into the area recently cleared of Sweet Pittosporum. We had 12 expert volunteers help out over the morning and afternoon sessions. A big thank you to our volunteers and to Linda and Andrew for organising the event. A great success. Today we welcomed the students from Trinity College to Glenfern. It was a pleasure taking them on an educational walk through the Bushlands pointing out our indigenous flora and fauna and explaining how we help manage the reserve. The students also pulled out the Briza grass growing beside the tracks. Over the last few years they have been helping us remove this weed and we can see it is making a difference. Thank you to all involved. Photos by Linda Fullagar
