With the return of good rain the Glenfern ponds are full of life. The audio was recorded this afternoon at around six pm. The photos are a potted history of the ponds concept, construction and established ponds. The frogs calling are brown tree frogs (Litoria ewingi) Their call is a series of rapid harsh, whirring pulsing notes repeated 5-15 times - "creeeeeee creee creee cree cree cree" and the common eastern froglets (Crinia signifera) which make a chirping "crick crick crick crick crick". Thank you to the volunteers who have spend so much time on this project.

What a busy morning it was. We managed to plant 250 plants around the frog pond and weed Areas 10 and 11. It's all looking very good. Thanks to all the helpers and for providing the delicious morning tea. Photos by Linda Fullagar
This morning we graveled a path around frog pond 2. The path will be a barrier to the creeping Kikuyu and the gravel will be a mulch for the new plants. As always it was a fun morning. Thanks everyone for the cheery help. Photos by Linda Fullagar
Thanks to everyone who came to Wednesday's working bee and helped plant 300 plants around the new frog pond. We also added a few logs and branches which will help attract the frogs. Photos by Linda Fullagar
It took all day to make the frog pond. With help from a local company, Simcon, we fine tuned the pond's earthwork, then sand was laid as a base, then the liner, shade-cloth and then another layer of sand. Rocks were laid around the edge to hold the liner in place. The pond is filled from the overflow of the first pond so we expect over summer that this one may dry out. Photos by Linda Fullagar
