Our first bush restoration for 2022 was blessed with some tremendous weather and some new faces. And boy oh boy did the weeds turn on a show. Hawthorns, blackberries, passionfruit vines?!? They’d been having a field day while we were going through a pandemic over the last two years. Area 12 also had a strong selection of thistles to deal with. Those prickly so and sos.. Check out the photos, below. Our next event is the Midweek Conservation & Conversation on the first Wednesday of the month from 9-11am. - Daniel Photos by Daniel J Jackson

We had the pleasure of returning to the bushlands on the weekend to remove the weeds that have taken residence over the past twelve months. We worked in areas 2 down through 12, which afforded us views of the city and grasslands, as well as riparian forest and Ferny Creek. Thanks to those who attended and welcome to those whose first time it was working with our Friends Of group. Glenfern Valley Bushlands really is a special place, that's provided a welcome sanctuary for people desiring to connect with nature, or stretch their legs during this isolating time. Take a look through the photos myself (Daniel Jackson), Edie and Linda took to enjoy some of the scenery and points of interest that we witnessed. Thanks to everyone that joined us on Sunday to work in areas 2 & 12. This saw us working on the grassy boundaries between Glenfern Road and New Road, down through to the riparian area by the creek. We were glad to have a clear day to welcome some new faces to the group, and to bring the Glenfern Valley Bushlands closer to its indigenous state. Today was spent in the lovely long grasses, removing pitto, boneseed and blackberry seedlings. Then we put our new inspection camera into practice and viewed some nesting boxes... No-one home – yet. It was a glorious day to be working in the bushlands. The sun was out and the bush was alive with birds all enjoying it's warmth - we even came across a Swamp wallaby. Thank you to everyone who came. Well, we did it - 400 plants planted and morning tea eaten all by 1.00pm. It was a wonderful morning, working with such great people in a lovely bushland. Well done and thanks to everyone involved. Photos by Linda Fullagar
