Thank you volunteers. The ponds are looking fantastic and the frogs love them.
With all the heavy rain we have had recently, our ponds needed a bit of work done on the overflow points. Thank you volunteers. The ponds are looking fantastic and the frogs love them. Photos by Linda F

Wednesday's Conservation and Conversation saw us tidying up the entrances and quarry area for our upcoming 21st birthday celebration on October 23rd. Plenty of mowing, whipper-snippering and weed removing action followed by a tasty morning tea and a chat. Thank you to everyone that came along, and to Marleen for the providing the morning tea. What a busy morning it was. We managed to plant 250 plants around the frog pond and weed Areas 10 and 11. It's all looking very good. Thanks to all the helpers and for providing the delicious morning tea. Photos by Linda Fullagar
This morning we graveled a path around frog pond 2. The path will be a barrier to the creeping Kikuyu and the gravel will be a mulch for the new plants. As always it was a fun morning. Thanks everyone for the cheery help. Photos by Linda Fullagar
Thanks to everyone who came to Wednesday's working bee and helped plant 300 plants around the new frog pond. We also added a few logs and branches which will help attract the frogs. Photos by Linda Fullagar
It took all day to make the frog pond. With help from a local company, Simcon, we fine tuned the pond's earthwork, then sand was laid as a base, then the liner, shade-cloth and then another layer of sand. Rocks were laid around the edge to hold the liner in place. The pond is filled from the overflow of the first pond so we expect over summer that this one may dry out. Photos by Linda Fullagar
It was such a perfect morning to be outside enjoying the sunshine while working at the bushlands. Many hands made light work of the planting, weeding and spreading of gravel and it was done in no time. Thank you all. Photos by Linda Fullagar
Photos by Linda Fullagar This morning we did a little maintenance at GVB. Gravel was laid, the main gate and fence were re-painted and the picnic table was sanded and stained. Thank you everyone, it was a most enjoyable morning. I hope our President approves! |
